The US is heading toward a Soviet-style education system

The current view of our Curriculum is that our kids are not being taught the facts. The argument of the educrats and textbook publishers who do not value factual information (i.e. denigrate algorithms and memorization of dates, historical facts,etc) is that since children can look up information in reference books and on calculators, they do not need to be taught facts.
